The
Roman Emperor Diokletian erected near his birthplace
Aspalathos an enormous palace. With the passing
centuries a town developed within the walls of the
palace. The Peristyle of the palace, Diokletian's
mausoleum, Jupiter's temple, colonnades, early croatian
churches, Romanesque houses, the gates of Andrija Buvina
and the work by Juraj Dalmatinac are preserved in a good
state.
